DIY Valentine's Day Photo Holder Craft
DIY Photo Gifts for Valentine’s Day: Conversation Heart Inspired Photo Holders
Every year, I try to come up with something heartfelt and handmade for Valentine’s Day. This year, I was thinking of making something super adorable and sweet…conversation heart sweet! I think I accomplished that! These photo holders are way cute and so easy to make, even if you are not the craftiest. Made with air-dry clay and a little love, they’re perfect for displaying your favorite Persnickety Box photos (seriously, the quality of these prints is stunning). This DIY Valentine’s Day photo holder craft is just what Cupid ordered!
I made these to display in my home for the holiday of love, but was thinking of how fun it would be to make for a galentine’s party or even a fun night with your kids! They would also make the perfect gift for your bestie or this year’s Valentine! ;) Check it out
What You’ll Need:
Pastel Acrylic paints (pink, purple, yellow, green, blue)
Paintbrush
Rolling pin
Clear sealant like Mod Podge
Pink acrylic paint marker
Your favorite Persnickety Box prints
Step-by-Step Instructions:
1. Roll Out Clay
Grab a chunk of air-dry clay and roll it out thick. I rolled mine to about 1/2 inch thickness with my rolling pin. (Tip: Use parchment paper underneath to avoid sticking!)
2. Cut Out Hearts
Use your heart-shaped cookie cutters to cut out as many hearts as you’d like. You could mix up the sizes for some variety! Smooth out the edges with your fingers or a damp cloth.
3. Make the Photo Holder Slot
Set them on one of their sides and take a knife or card (I used an old gift card) to make a small slit on the top edge of each heart. This will hold your photo later. Be gentle so you don’t distort the shape and make sure that the slit you are making is level so that your photo will be straight when sitting in the opening.
4. Let Them Dry
Place your hearts on a flat surface and let them dry completely. Depending on your clay, this could take 24-48 hours. (Patience, my friend!)
5. Paint Hearts
I started by sealing the clay with a clear sealant (Mod Podge). Once dry, it’s time to bring the hearts to life! Use acrylic paints to create those classic conversation heart colors: soft pinks, yellows, purples, greens, and blues. Don’t have the right hue? Mix your paints and add white to create that light, pastel look! Let the paint dry between coats if needed.
6. Add Words
Now for the fun part! Once fully dry, use a pink acrylic pen to add cute sayings like:
Be Mine | XOXO | Love You | Bestie | U R Mine | Lover | See U L8er
Get creative! You can personalize them however you want!
9. Display Your Photos!
Slip your Persnickety Box prints into the photo holder, and you’re done! These mini masterpieces look amazing with the high-quality, vibrant prints. Giving this to someone special? Slide a sentimental photo into the holder, and accompany it with a box of photos of the two of you! Now that’s a gift ANYONE would love!
How to Use Your Conversation Heart Photo Holders:
