DIY Tiny Photo Album
Lately, I have been obsessing over all things itty-bitty and could not help myself but make a super easy, DIY Tiny Photo Album using pictures from my Persnickety Box! Fits in the palm of your hand, you can not look at one of these albums and not swoon over their tiny perfection. Fun to display on your desk, give to children, keep in your pocket, or wallet!
Make in under 10 minutes. Once you make one, you will definitely want to make more! Create more for friends, spouses, kids, grandparents…everyone! Keep reading and follow along as I teach you how to create your very own tiny photo album!
Step 1: Create a Collage & Print
The first step to making your tiny photo album is to create a square collage with your photos, with two photos stacked on top of the other (see image below). Check out this blog post for our favorite collage making apps, here. Save the collage and print as 4x4” prints with no borders.
Persnickety Box photos work perfectly for this project because of their square 4x4” size! Additionally, these pics last lifetimes and don’t fade, making them perfect for a project like this! Simply download the app, swipe your pictures, and 30 perfectly sized 4x4” photographs show up at your door. For this project, I created 4 collages, totaling 8 images.
Step 2: Cut & Fold
Once your pictures arrive, cut the photo collages in half to separate. This will create mini pages that are 2 inches tall and 4 inches long.
Then, fold directly in half “hamburger style”, where the shorter ends meet. Because Persnickety Box prints are high quality, real photographs, they can be folded and will not rub/wear!
Step 3: Paste Together
To begin the assembly of your tiny photo album, use double sided tape or glue to adhere your photos together. Stick the back of one image to the back of another, creating pages. See the image below for a visual of the adhering.
Step 4: Add a Cover
As a final touch for a sleek photo album look, create a cover! I used a decorative paper that was cut to 2.125” x 4.5”.** To allow room in the spine for the creases of the photos, fold the cover in two places: both 2.125” toward the center, from the left and right edges. I made a mark on the inside of the cover at those measurements. See the image below for a visual of the measurements.
**Note these measurements are specific for the 8, 2x4” images I used. Size up or down depending on the number of photos you’ve used in your tiny photo album.
I then used the ruler to line up and create straight folds at both measurement markings on the cover. This should allow enough room for your photo pages to fit. Double check the fit now, before adhering the cover to the pages. See the image below for a visual of the folds.
After sizing, folding, and checking the cover’s fit, adhere it to the first and last of your photo pages. Get creative! Add stickers, drawings, text, etc. to the cover to make your own!
