3 Simple Edits for Print-Worthy Photos

The best part? You don't need a fancy camera or computer to do this! We have amazing editing tools in the palm of our hands. Here are three simple photo edits you can do on your smartphone to make your photos print-worthy.

Smartphone Edits for Print-Worthy Photos

**Although these edits are shown on iPhone’s photo adjustments, similar functions can be found on Android as well! :)

  1. Adjust the Brightness and Contrast

Brightness and contrast are two of the most important factors when it comes to the overall look and feel of a photo. Brightness refers to the lightness or darkness of an image, while contrast refers to the difference between the lightest and darkest areas of the photo. Adjusting the brightness and contrast can make your photo appear more vibrant and eye-catching.

By increasing the brightness, you can make your photo look more cheerful and optimistic while decreasing brightness can create a more moody or dramatic atmosphere. Similarly, increasing the contrast can make your photo look sharper and more defined, while decreasing it can create a softer, more romantic look.

2. Crop

Cropping is a quick and easy way to improve the composition of a photo. It allows you to remove any unnecessary elements and focus on the subject. This can help draw the viewer's eye to the most important part of the photo and create a more balanced composition.

The Persnickety Box app offers 4x4” square photos for 2 reasons:

  1. You don’t have to worry about photo orientation (landscape or portrait) to fit correctly in albums or photo books. Plus, they’re compact and take up less space in the Persnickety Box story box!

  2. It’s an intentional crop. Did you know that a photo from your smartphone snapped using the default 3:4 ratio is NOT a 4x6” print? It’s a 4x5.333” print. You’d be greatly disappointed receiving 4x6” prints with heads and feet cut off. With 4x4”, it’s intentional and you see exactly what you’ll get!

3. Apply Filters

Filters are a fun and easy way to enhance the mood and tone of your photos. They can help you create a specific look or atmosphere in your photos, whether that's vintage, romantic, or playful. Using filters can also help you create a cohesive look and feel across multiple photos, which can be useful if you're creating a themed album or collage. Just remember to use filters sparingly, as overuse can make your photos look artificial or over-processed.

Get Printing!

These three simple photo edits can take your smartphone photos from good to great and make them print-worthy. By taking a little extra time to edit your photos, you can create beautiful, professional-looking prints that you'll be proud to display or share with others.
